Cheap Trick vehicles Rocks the Party
December 23, 2009
Project Manager, Cory Polka took the Cheap Trick vehicle to a private party in our area earlier this month. Obviously, this vehicle becomes the HIT of the party, every time we take it out on the town. Some of the Chicago Bears attended the event, and got into playing a little ROCKBAND with the truck. Great time…
Cheap Trick – FRIDAY
December 4, 2009
The Cheap Trick vehicle will be making an appearance tonight in Vernon Hills, IL and a private party. The team always enjoys an opportunity to get this truck out, and let fans have some fun playing ROCKBAND on the ultimate entertainment truck!
Camaro – Unleashed!
November 30, 2009
The unusually warm temperatures that we enjoyed here in the midwest during the Holiday weekend, prompted team member, Cory Polka to unleash the “Cool Shades” Camaro and have a little fun. This beast is 700 HP and we’ve been dying to get it out on the roads since returning from SEMA in Vegas. Cory says that the car is a blast to drive, and definitely takes a delcate controlled squeeze of the throttle to keep the tires from braking loose when launching the car. It’s going to be a long, cold winter here, with that car sitting in the garage waiting for the spring. The team has quite a few performance driving events that we will be taking part in during the spring & summer of 2010. Stay tuned…
You've just gotta hear this thing in person!
Team REAL in Baltimore
November 24, 2009
Team Members… Cory, Greg, & Bjorn headed to Baltimore this past weekend to help promote the American Towman Exposition. The event, commonly called the Baltimore Tow Show, takes place each year to showcase the latest equipment and most innovative vehicle products for the Towing industry. Team REAL joined forces with Dynamic Towing Equipment to create the “ALL AMERICAN”. Based on a Ford F450, the team used American-Made products and accessories to transform the truck into the ultimate Towing rig. All taking place during show hours, right in front of the large crowds that packed the Dynamic exhibit. Custom features included a list of specially designed items from RealWheels Corporation that added style and personality to the vehicle with an American theme. (Custom Grille, bull bar, side steps, a custom stainless steel trim kit & more) A big “Thanks” to Anthony and the guys at Dynamic, as well as Doc and his crew from American Towman Magazine for putting this successful event together. Our guys were very pleased to see a noticable difference, that “American-Made” seems to be more important than ever with industry professionals. There seems to be a concious effort to BUY AMERICAN and take care of our own. Nice work Guys!!!

More from SEMA 09
November 5, 2009
Well, We have just begun day three here in Vegas and have been very pleased with traffic through our display, and response to new Camaro & Jeep products. Each night, as the sun starts to set, we’ve had some fun reving up the sound & video system on the Cheap Trick vehicle positioned just outside the main entrance. There’s NOTHING cooler than that truck at night. Laser-lights, fog machine, strobes, etc!!!!!
November 4, 2009
The first day of the 09 SEMA show in Vegas was MUCH better than we had anticipated! We were extremely busy in the RealWheels exhibit beginning about an hour before the show even opended. Due to the slow economy, many had been painting a gloomy picture going into this year’s event, but we are very encouraged after day one. Here’s a couple shots of Team REAL working with the many clients that stopped by on Tuesday. More soon….
Las Vegas, The Gang’s All Here!
November 3, 2009
Team members, Cory, Nate, Bjorn and myself have all arrived here in Vegas safely, and now it’s time to get busy. We’ve got our Weekender Jeep project and awesome Cool Shades Camaro on display in our exhibit, and response was fantastic during the past couple days of set-up. Our Cheap Trick vehicle continues to be a bit hit. As the sun started to set in the Nevada desert we cranked that vehicle up with all the lights and fog machine for a little ROCKBAND competition between Cory & I. He beat me, but I looked better with the guitar! Just during the couple hours we were with the Cheap Trick truck, we did 6 on-camera interviews with the media. I’ve included a few photos of some of our favorite vehicles so far. More later today!
Hourly Countdown – SEMA , LAs Vegas
October 30, 2009
Well… It seems like we wait for this time every year, and suddenly it’s here! SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) is the trade show that is known as the SUPERBOWL of our business. It’s where all the top aftermarket accessory companies come together each year to see what’s new, hot and unique. We have been very fortunate over the past few years to make our mark in a very positive way with the innovative vehicles that we design and create. Our custom themed vehicles have helped us bring attention to our accessoy products and the products of the sponsors that so generously work with us. Cory, Nate, Bjorn & myself head to Vegas this weekend to once again, enthusiastically work the event. Our three vehicles are currently on a transport truck, fighting the challenging Colorado teamrealdesignmountain snow storms to get to Vegas in time. Wish us luck! More from Vegas tomorrow night…

Hi Gang…. Thank you so much for all of the amazing emails and phone calls about the Jeep and Camaro projects that the team completed this week. The enthusiastic & kind words are appreciated! Here’s a couple shots of the “Weekender Jeep”. New suspension, wheels, tires, lights, and custom interior billet parts that will be available to all Jeepers Next Week!
new photos “Cool Shades CAMARO”
October 22, 2009
Hello All… Well, we lucked-out again! The weather was absolutely perfect for yesterday’s photo shoot. Today, it has rained ALL DAY! I’ve included a couple of photos from the shoot. Make sure to follow us on TWITTER (JRD12) as we will be providing live ipdates from SEMA in Las Vegas starting Saturday the 31st.
October 20, 2009
The team made great progress over the weekend, and each vehicle is getting the last few details added before their trip to Vegas. The CHEAP TRICK vehicle even got a couple new additions! The Weekender Jeep is having new KC lights added and of course the guys just had to add a few more LED lights. The Cool shades Camaro LOOKS AWESOME!!! We are all SO pleased with the way that this vehicle has come together. It’s fast , sexy and absolutely exudes some major ATTITUDE. The team has completed everything, and now will spend a little extra time “tweaking” the details. Tomorrow, my bro (and official Team photog) Jeff Dolphin will be here to shoot photos. Please everybody… Let’s hope for NO RAIN. So… Check back tomorrow and see some of the shots! We look forward to seeing everone in Vegas, but we’ll keep the updates coming every couple of days before and during the show.
SEMA vehicle Updates
October 16, 2009
Friday Oct 16 – Today the Superlift suspension arrives for the Jeep and we’ll get that installed so we can then mount the meaty Nitto tires and Mamba wheels. The jeep is looking great and all of the little accessory details are showing up each day. The Cool Shades Camaro had its final coat of clear applied at Estrada Customs, and their team is perfecting the finish before getting it back to our shop tomorrow. Then the Pedders suspension will go on, and we can put the awesome combonation of GWG wheels and Nitto tires back onto the beast. Only a couple more days needed to have it show-ready! We are very fortunate to have some of the best names in the business join us on these projects, and I’ll post a list of each partner, and their web address so you can check out their stuff.
Vehicle work continues
October 14, 2009
Team REAL continues to put the final touches on our project vehicles for this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas. The Camaro will be back from paint on Saturday, which will leave just enough time to install the suspension system, and complete some of the cool details. The decision to bring the Weekender Jeep back to SEMA was somewhat “last minute” so, the team is doing a great job of updating its features and adding a few new items. The Cheap Trick vehicle is ready to go!

Final 3 Weeks – SEMA Countdown
October 12, 2009
Hello All… Well, this is normally when I am going a little crazy, but things look pretty good right now. All products are here (for the Camaro at least) and work is progressing every day. Paint is being completed by Estrada Customs just a few miles away from our location, and the team at Estrada has been an absolute JOY to work with! DETAILS DETAILS!!! I am confident that all of our sponsors are going to be very pleased with the way this car looks, and proud to be part of the project. Team members Greg & Cory drove a few hours this weekend to personally pick-up a couple of goodies from Revolution Styling in Michigan. The drive was well worth it! The additional products really impacted the appearance. (The photo was taken a few days ago of Fabian at Estrada, doing a little custom cutting… WOW!)
If you really want it "Custom" the Sparks have to fly!
Cool Shades Camaro…leather
October 6, 2009
As the vehicle heads off to get some fresh paint, the project team conitnues to work on various details of the Camaro project. Some great looking leather trim from Alea have arrived, and the guys spent time today, adding them to various interior panels. Unfortunately, the glue fumes make these guys giggle like school girls…. Oh boy
October 6, 2009
This past weekend, our friends in the IL Viper Club got together and cruised north to the Harley davidson Museum in Milwaukee. I had plans for the day and wasn’t able to make the trip, but Chase & I jumped into the Weekender Jeep project and headed a couple miles from our home to meet up with a couple of the gang. You gotta LOVE these ACR’s!!
Chase “Racer” loves the new grey ACR.
I never get tired of seeing one of these on the road.
Cool Shades – Update
September 28, 2009
Hi Gang… Progress continues on the new Camaro project as October is just a couple days away. (How did THAT happen?) We are very happy with the Alea Leather seat treaments that were completed last week. Team member Cory, took the beast for a little test run on Friday, and we haven’t been able to get the goofy grin off his face since. He definitely approves of the level of performance that the ProCharger added. Our entire team is thrilled with the sound of the car, due to the combination of ProCharger, SLP Performance headers and exhaust. It’s hard to explain, but this thing sounds like a tuned race car. At idle, it just has a very pleasant and very deep tone. Then, as you really get into the throttle, it gets VIOLENT!!! Very loud and very powerful sounding. Just before SEMA, we plan to shoot some video footage, and will make sure to pass it along. More coming soon!
Cool Shades Progress
September 22, 2009
The Camaro project is coiming along on schedule. Team “REAL” is waiting for only a few more aftermarket companies, sending goodies to complete the project. The polished Pro Charger has been installed and is ready to tune. The interior is currently going through a transformation with luxury Alea leather, and the Headers and Exhaust from SLP are ready to growl. The awesome Nitto tires have been mounted to the GWG wheels and we are very pleased with the look that the combination gives the car. Fabian from Estrada Custom will be adding the custom paint to the build, and he spent a great deal of time with the team last night, going over final ideas. A box containing a selection of LED lights from Street Glow just arrived a few minutes ago and the team is diving-in to begin adding that signature Glow that is part of each of our projects. Cool Shades… I have to admit, the Team members walking around the office in their new Maui Jim’s has definitely added some style and class to this place! More coming soon!
Three RWC Vehicles at Air Show
September 22, 2009
Just a couple miles from our facility is the Waukegan, Illinois Airport. This small airport facility is home to numerous private jets and aircrafts from the North Shore of Chicago, including Michael Jordan’s. We like to support local businesses, so gladly accepted the invitation to bring a few of our custom show vehicles to their annual Air Show event. The weather was absolutely perfect, as we got to enjoy the sky divers, stunt planes and military jets. On display was our “Active Lifestyle” Jeep project, the “Yacht Club Edition” Silverado, and of course the popular “Cheap Trick” vehicle. We handed out stacks of promotional postcards, posed for photos and even signed a couple autographs. A big “Thanks” to Jim Stanczak and his team at the airport for their hospitality. Great event guys!!
Cheap Trick in Vegas
September 18, 2009
I was fortunate enough to be in Vegas on business last weekend, and was able to attendopening night of Cheap Trick’s SGT PEPPERS concert at the Las Vegas Hilton. My wife & I had a chance to visit with Rick Nielsen about an hour before the show, and he said it best. “You see a lot of Fluff in Vegas… Our show has no animals, fireworks or acrobats. Just GREAT music.” He was absolutely correct! The musical talents of these four guys combined with a full orchestra was amazing! I couldn’t helpthinking that, these guys just came off a full summer tour with Def Leppard, yet Robin Zander’s voice was incredible, and the energy of the entire band was contagious. You’ve gotta wonder how they do it. (I would need a LONG vacation.) If you enjoy the music of the Beatles, Cheap Trick, or just quality entertainment, make sure to get to Las Vegas this month and see this show. For more info, go to www.cheaptrick.com or www.lvhilton.com
“Cool Shades” Ready for Take-off!
September 11, 2009
Sorry…. it’s not what you think. When we say “Take-off” during the month of September, it usually means that we are still taking OFF everything that is bolted to a stock vehicle in order to turn it into something great. This year our RealWheel’s project vehicle team, “Team REAL” has aquired a brand new 2010 Chevy Camaro. We’ve combined our efforts with luxury sunglass manufacturer, MAUI JIM to create the COOL SHADES Camaro. This thing is going to be awesome! Some of the best names in the business have joined us, providing some of the coolest aftermarket goodies available! They include: Pedders Suspension, ProCharger Supercharger, SLP Performance, Nitto Tires, GWG wheels, Alea custom Leather, StreetGlow electronics & more. Beginning next week, we will begin sharing photos as the project begins to take shape. Next month… Take-Off will mean something completely different, I promise!
New Camaro SS, soon to be known as "Cool Shades".
Jeeps in the Mist
September 4, 2009
Here in the midwest, we get some morning fog during this time of year. Usually makes for some great photos for car buffs and photographers in general. I’m sure our photographer (by Bro) Jeff was out shooting something this morning. Here’s a shot of the “Weekender” Jeep project on the way to the RealWheels facility this morning.

50+ Dodge Vipers
September 4, 2009
It’s been way too long since I’ve hung out with my friends in the Illinois Region of the Viper Club of America! So… with some absolutely perfect weather, I washed the RAW POWER Viper Rt-10 and headed to the monthly meeting in the Chicago suburbs. These are some of the greatest people I’ve ever met, and VERY passionate about their vehicles. It was nice to see everyone, and I look forward to getting back on the race track with you very soon!
Over 50 Vipers in attendance for the September meeting of the IL-VCA.
Cheap Trick on Conan O’Brien tonight
September 1, 2009
You know how it is… One of the world’s greatest rock bands… still going strong after 30 years. Then, they come out with a new album, and everybody says, “Uh Oh… I just want to hear the old stuff.” Until now!!! Cheap Trick’s new album, titled “The Latest” just plain rocks! It highlights each of the band member’s best qualities, and is absolutely NO Dissapointment! Tonight the guys will perform one of their new songs, and hopefully joke a little with the tall red-hair guy. We’ll be watching! We will update tonight on Twitter. http://twitter.com/JRD12

Great American Truck Show
August 24, 2009
Hi Everyone… Just got back from a HOT few days in the Dallas area, where I spent time visiting clients, as well as the big Dallas heavy truck event. Nice to see some of our good friends in the business and all of the RealWheels accessories on display throughout the show. We were much busier there than expected! Meeting with exisiting clients, new dealers, friends from our Australia trip, and even a couple of Sponsors of our Cheap Trick vehicle.

Illinois Tow Show
August 17, 2009
Team REAL member, Greg Polka spent Staurday at the IL Tow Show with the truck from ERNIE’S Towing that we recently worked on. Greg showed others in the industry the wild, custom billet aluminum floor mats that we created, especially for this rig. Other items we created were the billet pedals, door sills, and tons of laser-cut stainless steel panels for the interior and exterior of the vehicle. A big thanks to Ernie for letting us hang with him for the day, and meet so many great people in the local towing scene.
A HOT Saturday at the 09 Illinois Tow Show
August 17, 2009
Hi all… We were invited to attend a local parade for the LindenFest Summer festival. Weather was great, and streets were crowded! Way more people lining the streets than I thought would attend! We rolled through town with the Cheap Trick vehicle (Blarring the DREAM POLICE song), as well as the huge “Yacht Club” Silverado with all strobes flashing. Thanks to all who waved and said hello throughout the day.
The siren came in handy, as we cleared the street.
Tons of Travel
August 10, 2009
Yes… We’ve been on the road! Nate in Minnesota, Bjorn making his way through Michigan, Greg criss-crossing the state of Florida, & I putting over 650 miles on the rental car in Eastern Pennsylvania. Why? Our clients need us NOW more than ever. Our IDEA division is busier than EVER, and has been instrumental in assisting our clients with new products, innovative designs, and often… simply saving them money on the fabrication of existing parts. So, what have you got, that we could help with? Give us a call, and ask us to quote on one of your existing parts, or challenge us with a new design. (I wonder if they would let us add a little BLING to those Eastern PA buggies???)

Latest Photo Shoot
August 10, 2009
Last week, we met photographer Jeff Dolphin at the waterfront in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Our “Yacht Club” Silverado project was freshly waxed and ready to go! The shoot began promptly at 5:45, just in time to get a great look at the sunrise coming up through the Lake Michigan fog. Keep your eyes out for these photos in the near future.
Maxxsonics Audio Event
July 29, 2009
Crisp, Clear & LOUD music filled Northern Illinois this past weekend as our valued Audio System Sponsor, Maxxsonics held their DB Drag and show event at their Lake Zurich, IL facility. The Cheap Trick vehicle was a big hit and I really enjoyed seeing (and hearing) some of the most impressive mobile sound systems ever. Chase & I brought the “WEEKENDER” Jeep and Cory joined us with the Purple-Haze Smart car. The event attracted hundreds of vehicles, and included a cancer charity fund-raiser that raised thousands of dollars. Nice work!! Team Maxxsonics, and thanks for the invite.

Team members Greg & Bjorn headed to downtown Chicago this weekend with the Cheap Trick vehicle to take part in the CORNHOLE CLASSIC… Yeh, I know… But this is that BAGGO beanbag game that is played at every tailgate party in the midwest. Over 1000 players attended, and the vehcle was a big hit. Greg was just happy to be in the heart of Bears territory.
Dream Police Vehicle in Brew City
July 20, 2009
Thousands of fans came by to check out the truck! (What's a ROCK show without a FOG machine?? cough...cough)
WOW !! Huge crowds joined Parker & I as we showed-off the vehicle to fans entering the Cheap Trick concert on Saturday night. Rain was on & off during our ride to Milwaukee, but as soon as we rolled the vehicle out of the trailer, the clouds parted and rain stayed away the rest of the evening! The fans were GREAT! The vehicle was positioned right inside the main Summerfest gate, leading directly to the Marcus Amphitheater, where thousands passed by on their way to their seats. Crowds were a little too large for the band members to join us, but Rick Nielsen sent me a text message just before they went on stage, letting me know that he heard we had masses of fans enjoying the vehicle. A big thanks to the SummerFest staff and Security for their help and hospitality! And… a HUGE thanks to all of the enthusiastic fans who stopped by to check out the Dream Police Truck! We’ll post additional photos as soon as we get through all of the shots!

Tem REAL has been invited to bring our Rock & Roll project vehicle to the 2nd annual CORNHOLE CLASSIC at Soldier Field. Yes, I know… the name is a little odd for this popular midwest beanbag game that is played at most every tailgate party. Over 15oo players are expected Saturday for this tournament that offers a few thousand dollars in prize money. We’ll be there to add a little additional fun, and some Rock music to the event.
July 13, 2009
The weather was great for this year’s JEEP FEST in McHenry, IL. A good crowd of Jeepers showed up with some very cool 4×4 rides. We attended the event with our “Weekender” active lifestyle Jeep JK project, and showed-off our NEW over-the-hood- Grille guard. A big thanks to all of the Jeep owners who attended, and took time to say hello.

Team REAL just completed work on this awesome Peterbilt towing monster. The guys machined custom billet aluminum pedals with Ernie’s logo and matching set of door sils. Additional Stainless steel trim pieces were laser-cut here at our facility and then installed into various panels on the dash, doors and seats. This truck is WILD! And… with any custom rig, it continues to be a work in progress, so… we’ll see you soon Ernie!

TRUCKIN’ Magazine’s current issue features our Dream Police show vehicle, and when you consider that the photo shoot took place on a four degree day in January, it’s easy to appreciate how nice the shots look! A big thanks to Truckin Photographer, Brandon Gillogly for flying-in from Southern Cal to brave the cold and take the photos. As he left our office that day, Brandon hit a patch of ice and landed flat on his back in the middle of the parking lot. We’ll be lucky to EVER get him back to the midwest during winter. So… Go pick up this magazine!!! TRUCKIN Vol 35, No.9

Project Team Heads North for WALLEYE
July 1, 2009
Greg & Ron heading out, on our only good weather day.
I got this 42" Northern right off the pier!
Hey… Even we need a few days of R&R once in a while, so Team members, Ron, Greg, Roger & I joined a few friends on a trip to the remote “Rusty Myers” outpost camp on Lake Wabakimi. A small sea-plane landed us right onto the lake, and dropped us off for the week. We caught tons of fresh Walleye, and ate like kings. I recommend this trip to everyone! Except… if you’re afraid of bears, moose, eagles, fish with big teeth, outhouses, and being in the middle of nowhere without ANY emergency services

The worlds largest Truck Enthusiasts magazine… TRUCKIN’, will feature the CHEAP TRICK “Dream Police” Tactical Vehicle in their publication, due to hit the News stands next week! Wow… And I thought WE were busy! Cheap Trick opened their 2009 40-city Summer Tour with Def Leppard & Poison last night in NJ, their new album titled “The Latest” came out this week, and they wrote and produced the theme song for the new Transformers movie that opens today. I’ve had a chance to hear a couple tracks from the new album, and ordered it right away. Nice Stuff! We are going to do our best at getting the Cheap Trick Vehicle to a couple of the concerts this summer, so watch for us. And… for all of you BEATLES fans, Cheap Trick has agreed to do their famous SGT PEPPERS tribute for 9 days in September at the Las Vegas Hilton, with a full orchestra, and special guest performers. Sign me up!!

ON THE AIR
June 22, 2009
On June 10th, Team member Greg Polka & I traveled to Ohio to visit with Steve Somers from America’s Truckin Network radio show which broadcasts from Cincinnati, OH. Steve hosts the show, which runs 5 nights per week from 12:00 midnight to 5:00am, and we were invited on the air to share a few of our stories from the Australia trip, and what’s NEW here at RWC. A couple large cups of black coffee kept Greg & I talking from 12-2:30 without yawning once. Steve’s show reaches thousands of truckers as they travel the highways of the U.S. and Canada. Thanks to all those who called in…Especially the guy who suggested that we have our own TV show. Pass that idea along!!

Feeling the Heat
June 5, 2009
Here at RWC, we’ve been involved with the Fire Industry for many years. It continues to be a very important part of our business, as well as providing us with a great sense of pride. Yesterday I attended the Illinois Fire Service Home Day. An event that bring government together with Professionals in the industry, to showcase current and new technology, and emphasize the need for additional equipment and training. I was invited to take part in a training exercise where I was able to get into all of the necessary “Turn-out” gear, and enter a burning and smoke-filled building. Never could I have imagined just how thick the black smoke could be! I have a renewed appreciation for the men & women firefighters who serve our communities. Thanks…

Classic Rock Party…
May 29, 2009
As you know, we created the DREAM POLICE vehicle project with legendary rockers… Cheap Trick. We’ve totally enjoyed getting that vehicle out to see the fans. While Greg, Cory & I were in Australia, team member Ron T. drove the vehicle back to Rockford, IL for the EAGLE FM Radio 5 Yr. Anniversary party. Joining Ron was vehicle Sponsor, Jeff Dolphin from SVL Productions, who developed our awesome laser & fog machine set-up with the 32″ monitor. Even morning Madman, “Mancow” stopped by to check out all the music-themed details of the vehicle. Despite some nasty weather and a few inebriated fans, most everyone enjoyed the day, and a little Rockband video competition. Thanks again to the RON & JEFF show…for a nice job!

Jhan, Greg & Cory with the SUNRISE EXPRESS
Hello All… Earlier this month we were honored with an invitation to travel to Australia to help promote the largest truck & machinery show in the Southern Hemisphere. Cory, Greg & myself made the trip and truly enjoyed the country and the awesome people! The challenge was to take a brand new, totally stock Western Star 4900 big rig, and totally customize it in less than 3 hours. All this, while being filmed LIVE on Australia’s morning TV news program “SUNRISE”. The project, named the SUNRISE EXPRESS took place right in the center of downtown Brisbane, and turned out great! When finished, it featured our awesome MAG wheel covers, tons of mirror-finished stainless steel, and even some custom billet SUNRISE logos that we manufactured especially for the project. A big thanks to our AU Distributor, Lance, and Mike from Roadworks, who also joined us to complete the build. Our visit, and the project were featured in numerous magazines and newspapers and the TV segments seemed to go very well. Thanks to all of our new Aussie friends for their incredible hospitality, and we look forward to another trip Down-Unda.

As we expected, the Cheap Trick vehicle was a big hit at Rockford’s Classics & Chrome show this past weekend. This was the vehicle’s first appearance in the band’s hometown, and we met thousands of fans. A huge THANK YOU to all of the staff at the show for putting on such a Class A event!!
NEXT UP… The FDIC (Fire Department Instructors Conference) show in Indianapolis. RWC Team members, Nate & Greg made their way to Indy early this morning for set-up, and Bjorn & I will hit the road early tomorrow morning. The FDIC show is one of our favorites! We are very proud to be so tightly connected to the fire industry, and this show features the best in the business! Next to the Indy 500, this is probably the next best reason to visit Indy!
Classics & Chrome Show
April 14, 2009
Hello All… Well, this weekend will be the first official public appearance for the Cheap Trick vehicle in the Rockford, Illinois area. This is where the band originated from, and there are more Cheap Trick fans in this area than anywhere in the world! We’ll be featured on the early morning News on Rockford’s WIFR 23 to help promote the event, and then the show runs all day Saturday & Sunday (April 18-19) The cars for this popular event are hand picked by the show Management, and include the best of the best. I understand that three cars from the James Bond movies will be there! I’ll be there all day Saturday, so stop by and say Hello!
Official Cheap Trick Day
April 2, 2009
Jhan & Rick Nielsen at the IL State Capital
The Dream Police vehicle in Sprigfield!
Yes… It’s true. We actually have an official Cheap Trick Day here in Illinois. The four members of the legendary rock band all call the Rockford, Il area home, and in fact, Bun E & Rick still live in the area. Team member, Nate and myself made the drive to the state capitol in Springfield yesterday with the Dream Police vehicle. A big thanks to Senator Dave Syverson for the invite, and to all of the fans who stopped by to say hello. Cheap Trick’s Guitar Guru, Rick Neilsen joined us on the steps of the capitol as we showed-off the various features of the vehicle to the group of potiticians and fans, and Rick threw guitar picks at the crowd. The Liz & Lynch morning show on WYMG-FM interviewed us early in the morning, and a number of their listeners stopped by to say hello and play a little ROCKBAND! Later in the morning, we got an ever so small amount of negative attitude from one of Illinois’ finest State Troopers, questioning the legality of our awesome TOMAR emergency light bar on the roof of the vehicle. ( I believe he was actually upset that ours was brighter than his…) On that note, we decided not to push our luck, and got the heck out of town.
More to come!!
March 24, 2009
Hello… Well, we’re finally seeing some warmer weather here in the Midwest, and our team is preparing a busy schedule of events, shows and appearances during the coming months. The Cheap Trick vehicle will begin next week with appearances for CHEAP TRICK DAY here in Illinois. A few plans are just now being finalized, so I’ll let you know more, once completed. Our team just returned from the huge MID AMERICA TRUCK SHOW in Louisville, KY. RealWheels has attended that show for the past 20 years, and it continues to be the premier place to launch new products to the commercial truck market. We had a great show with the launch of our new AERO-Series of wheel covers, attracting a lot of attention from many fleets, customers, and manufacturers.
There is no doubt that the industries that we work in have all been affected by the challenging economy, but we have ben very fortunate to remain busy with many special projects, and new product designs. A BIG THANKS to all of our customers, fans and associates!!!
2009 Chicago Auto Show
February 20, 2009
Well, this weekend will mark the final couple days of the huge Chicago International Auto Show for yet another successful year. This 12 day event seemed busier than ever to all of us here at RealWheels, as our Dream Police Tactical Vehcicle, and Yacht Club Silverado were both on display. We met, talked with, demonstrated the vehicle to, and played ROCKBAND with THOUSANDS of people this year! We were somewhat uncertain of how many would attend the show this year due to the strained economy and uncertain automotive climate. It was GREAT to be pleasantly surprised as to the large crowds that filled the aisles. The Cheap Trick vehicle stole the show in our opinion. Rockers…Cheap Trick originally hail from nearby Rockford, Illinois. And… it seems as though everyone in this area has a favorite Cheap Trick story. Favorite concert, song, video or band member. It was fun meeting with all those fans and hearing some of the stories. Don’t worry… I won’t share the details!
Make sure to visit the REALWHEELS home page, and register for the Rock & Roll prize package that we’re giving away after the completion of the show.
That’s all for now…
Hail to the Chief
January 15, 2009
Well, whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, it’s painfully obvious that dramatic change is required in numerous areas throughout our country. So… this coming Tuesday, our nation has another opportunity to put our selected “Main Man” into place and begin sorting out the current challenges. Regardless of your affiliation, this will be a historic event and RealWheels is proud to be part of this American celebration!! As part of the Inaugural Parade, the “Spirit of the Lincoln Way”, a historic 1968 Maxim Fire Truck will carry selected officials down the parade route. RealWheels Corporation was selected to provide stainless steel wheel accessories to “dress-up” the truck, along with our new Vehicle Flag-Pole system that will be mounted to the truck, carrying the flag during the parade.
God Bless America!
CES – Consumer Electronics Show
January 15, 2009
Wow… Spending a few days at this show can quickly make you hate your own collection of electrical devices. Now… My home theatre isn’t even close to good enough, my IPod is weak, and my inadequate computer… Well, don’t get me started. I was looking forward to seeing all of the latest and greatest electronics, but now I’m just a little depressed. The good news??? Our Cheap Trick vehicle was on display and recieved a fantastic reception from the 130,000 people that attended the annual event. No doubt, attendance was down from past years, but the show is still amazing! The vehicle was part of the Maxxsonics Corporation’s 2-story exhibit that showcased their quality line of speakers, amps, subwoofers, and various audiophile delights. From start to finish each day, the vehicle’s sound system, lasers, strobes, fog machine and ROCKBAND 2 video game rocked the North hall of the Convention Center. A big thanks to all that stopped by to say hello, and enjoy the vehicle! Some of the visitors included: The team from XBOX Live, MTV Games VP Tony Calandra, G4 Television’s film crew, Saturday Night Live’s Jimmy Fallon, & dozens of Media representatives. Your enthusiasm to the project was very appreciated!! Additional THANKS to the entire Maxxsonics Team for a great show! Now… The vehicle leaves Vegas and heads home to the frigid tundra of Chicago.
